Who is Runecasters?

Runecasters was designed by Ryan Tyler of All Trades Media LLC.

“I wanted to make a game that people could play quickly with minimal setup. As a career Magic: the Gathering player, waiting for rounds to end can leave you with anywhere between 5 minutes and half an hour, especially if a control mirror is happening. I made Runecasters with that exact situation in mind, where you can just have it in your bag, hand someone three cards and still be greeted with high replay-ability.

I have a deep respect for the RPS grinders, I hope they enjoy the game. There’s something about reading your opponent’s mind and being able to play around the information you have available to your advantage that I wanted to harness.

If you’ve seen my other products in the Original Print line, you’ll see a trend in my affinity for minimalism. I designed the cards with so few colors because I wanted what color was present to really stand out. The characters, of course, are all public domain imagery from various image resources online. I’m not super great at character artwork, and depending on the reception of the game, intend to commission custom character pacts in the future. The typeface featured on all of the cards is a custom typeface called OPBasic, of my own design.

I tried to make a game that was easy to pick up, while also rewarding heads-up gameplay and allowing play styles to form. Gamers like agency - I wanted to give it to them in a concise, compact, handsome package. Enjoy the games!”
